About

Michelle Juliet Feldman is an artist residing in the Santa Ynez Valley, California. After three-decades, she returned to fine art in her fifties, bringing with her a wealth of experience and insight. Michelle studied the fundamentals of oil painting through the lens of classical realism, focusing on still life, while cultivating a unique style that showcases her passion for paper, text, and the interplay of light and shadow.

She is a multidisciplinary artist who is always learning, experimenting, and evolving.  Currently work primarily in oil, but recently became fascinated by egg tempera. She also loves working on papers and exploring different mediums depending on the subject and mood.

She is drawn to the ethereal quality that both oil and egg tempera can create, as well as their rich histories and the integrity of their materials. There is something very grounding about working with beautiful, elemental materials.

Through Michelle's studies in art and composition, she became fascinated by the underlying structures found throughout nature and how these principles can strengthen visual composition, observation, and design.

From that curiosity, the Mobile App, Phiora was created as an educational and creative tool to make these concepts more accessible and interactive. The app allows users to overlay compositional guides inspired by the Golden Ratio onto subjects, images, and scenes, helping students better understand balance, movement, and visual harmony in a hands-on way.

My hope is simply to encourage deeper observation, curiosity, and discussion around the intersection of art, mathematics, nature, and design.

The app can be downloaded here.
